Patients nearing the end of life may experience symptoms that are refractory to standard therapeutic options. Physicians may consider palliative sedation to relieve intolerable suffering. There is limited clinical literature regarding preferred medications for palliative sedation.
Patiënten die het einde van hun leven naderen, kunnen symptomen ervaren die niet te behandelen zijn met de standaard therapeutische opties. Artsen kunnen palliatieve sedatie overwegen om ondraaglijk lijden te verlichten. Er is weinig klinische literatuur over voorkeursmedicatie voor palliatieve sedatie.
