Als verpleegkundige op de afdeling thoraxchirurgie word ik regelmatig geconfronteerd met patiënten die een hartoperatie hebben ondergaan. Na de operatie is het gebruikelijk om ter preventie van trombo-embolische complicaties profylactisch fraxiparine voor te schrijven. Echter, de optimale duur van deze profylaxe is onderwerp van discussie. De duur van profylactisch fraxiparine kan van invloed zijn op de kans op zowel het voorkomen van deze complicaties als het risico op bloedingen. Het bepalen van de juiste balans is cruciaal voor de uitkomsten voor de patiënt. Ik vraag me af wat de meest effectieve duur van profylactische fraxiparine toediening is om de beste patiëntresultaten te behalen.
